Champion
Authorized Dealer
Champion has been an American athletic-apparel institution since 1919 — the company that invented the sweatshirt, pioneered the hooded sweatshirt, and patented the legendary Reverse Weave construction that made its sweats nearly shrink-proof. At Keep Shooting, the Champion line covers the athletic basics that earn their place in a working rotation: $4.95 short-sleeve tees in six colors, mesh and jersey athletic shorts, Duofold by Champion thermal base layers for cold-weather hunts and range days, and the Double Dry Action Fleece hoodie — durable, no-nonsense gear at honest prices.
About Champion
Champion is one of America's most storied athletic apparel brands — the company that invented the sweatshirt in the 1920s, pioneered the hooded sweatshirt, and patented the Reverse Weave construction that made its sweats resist shrinking for generations. At Keep Shooting, the Champion line covers the athletic basics worth keeping in rotation: t-shirts, athletic shorts, Duofold thermal base layers, and fleece.
The Champion story begins in 1919 in Rochester, New York, where the Feinbloom family founded the Knickerbocker Knitting Company. An early agreement to outfit the University of Michigan's athletic teams put the company on the map, and through the 1920s and '30s its innovations defined a category: Champion developed the crewneck sweatshirt as a more comfortable alternative to the itchy wool jerseys athletes wore, then added a hood to create what we now simply call the hoodie. Renamed Champion Knitting Mills in the 1930s, the company introduced its signature Reverse Weave technique — cutting heavyweight cotton on the cross-grain so it expands rather than shrinks vertically in the wash — and held the patent by 1952. Champion went on to supply college athletic programs, the U.S. military, and NBA uniforms through the 1990s. Acquired by Sara Lee in 1989, it became part of Hanesbrands in the 2006 spin-off, and in 2024 was sold to Authentic Brands Group — but the Reverse Weave heritage and the athletic-basics DNA carry through to the products on this page.
On the everyday side, the Champion short-sleeve tee is the price leader in the catalog at $4.95 — ringspun cotton in six solid colors: black, white, scarlet, casino gold, orange, and dark green. These are the buy-them-by-the-stack basics, and they also appear in our broader t-shirts catalog. For warm-weather training and range days, the athletic shorts cover three cuts: the Long Mesh Pocket Shorts, the Jersey Shorts with Pockets, and the Polyester Mesh 9" Shorts in athletic grey.
For cold weather, the Duofold by Champion line is the standout. Duofold is a century-old thermal underwear name now made under the Champion umbrella, and the base layers here are built for hunters, cold-weather shooters, and anyone working outdoors in winter. The Varitherm Expedition long-sleeve baselayer is the heavyweight cold-weather option; the Varitherm Brushed Back base layer adds a soft brushed interior for warmth against the skin; the THERMatrix Crew uses a grid-knit construction for warmth without bulk; and the Originals Thermal Crew is the classic affordable waffle-knit thermal. Topping the fleece line is the Double Dry Action Fleece Pullover Hoodie, a moisture-wicking fleece that nods to the brand's hoodie heritage.
Keep Shooting carries Champion for the same reason it stocks dependable surplus and tactical gear: proven basics at honest prices. The Champion tees and shorts pair naturally with the comparable Hanes cotton-basics line, and for shooters who want a military-cut or tactical upgrade over an athletic basic, the Rothco and Mil-Tec lines step up from the Champion value tier. Every Champion order ships with fast delivery, easy returns, and our satisfaction guarantee.
