Camo Hats at Keep Shooting
Keep Shooting carries one of the most complete camouflage headwear catalogs in military surplus — more than forty camo hats spanning every major military pattern of the last sixty years and every hat style in the US and allied military inventory. This is the category to browse if you care about the pattern first and the style second: every hat here is organized around the camouflage itself, from current-issue OCP Scorpion and SOCOM Multicam through vintage Vietnam Tiger Stripe, Cold War Woodland M81, Gulf War Desert Digital, Bundeswehr Flecktarn, and specialty designs like A-TACS LE-X and Rothco's Total Terrain.
Multicam (and Multicam Black, Multicam Tropic, Arid Multicam): Multicam is the seven-color disruptive- pattern camouflage developed by Crye Precision and adopted by US Special Operations Command beginning in 2002. The pattern was designed for multi-environment performance — meant to blend effectively across woodland, desert, and urban terrain in a way that no single-environment pattern had previously achieved. Multicam was later adopted as the US Army's Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) in modified form in 2015, making it the single most widely issued US military pattern today. Multicam Black is the restricted- distribution variant developed for law enforcement and urban tactical use. Multicam Tropic is Crye's dedicated jungle variant with more green and less tan. Arid Multicam is the desert-heavy variant. We carry Multicam across Tru-Spec Contractor Caps, Tactical Gear Junkie Operator Hats, Rothco Tactical Operator Caps with US Flag, and 5.11 Tactical Flag Bearer Caps.
OCP Scorpion: The current US Army uniform pattern adopted in 2015 as the replacement for the much-criticized Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) that had been issued since 2004. OCP Scorpion is a modified version of Crye Multicam — essentially the same concept with minor simplifications for mass production. Our Tru-Spec Patrol Cap in Scorpion OCP is the current-issue-correct pattern for a period-accurate modern US Army loadout.
Tiger Stripe: The Vietnam War camouflage pattern worn by US Army Green Berets of the 5th Special Forces Group, Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) forces, Australian SAS, and the MACV-SOG covert operations task force. Original Vietnam-era Tiger Stripe was hand-printed in Southeast Asia on locally-produced cotton fabric with distinctive irregular tiger-like bands in green, brown, and black — the pattern's "hand-drawn" quality is its visual signature. We stock Tiger Stripe in the Vintage Vietnam Style Boonie, the standard Tiger Stripe Boonie, and the Tiger Stripe Head Wrap. For the full tactical history see our Boonie Hats category, which covers the broader Vietnam-era hat program.
Woodland / M81: The US military's four-color woodland pattern officially designated M81 — introduced in 1981 as the standard US Army Battle Dress Uniform pattern and issued continuously through the late 1990s. M81 Woodland is probably the most recognized military camouflage pattern in the world due to its forty-year service life through Grenada, Panama, the Gulf War, Somalia, the Balkans, and into the early War on Terror. We carry Woodland in Head Wraps, Five Panel Street Caps, Vintage Field Caps, 8-Point Utility Caps, Combat Caps, Adjustable Fatigue Caps, Deluxe Watch Cap knit beanies, and our boonie line.
Digital Camo Family: The digital-pixel camouflage approach was pioneered by the US Marine Corps with MARPAT in 2002, which inspired the Army's UCP in 2004 and a subsequent explosion of pixelated-pattern variants across the military surplus industry. We carry the full digital-camo family in both hats and beanies: ACU Digital (the original much-criticized UCP pattern, still widely available as surplus since the Army issued it for a decade); Desert Digital (the Iraq/Afghanistan-era desert pattern); Urban Digital (gray-scale urban); City Digital; Midnight Digital (dark navy/black); Woodland Digital; and Sky Blue Digital. The digital approach has fallen out of military favor since OCP Scorpion's 2015 adoption, but digital patterns remain popular with collectors, period-correct reenactors, and civilian shooters looking for a distinct non-commercial aesthetic.
Flecktarn: The five-color Bundeswehr pattern officially adopted by the German Army in 1991 and still issued today — one of the most effective disruptive-pattern designs in modern NATO service. We carry Flecktarn in a Head Wrap and in the US Style Flecktarn Boonie Hat. For the full Bundeswehr inventory — including Flecktarn field shirts, pants, parkas, and combat rucksacks — see our dedicated German Army Surplus category.
Specialty patterns: Smokey Branch is a vintage experimental US Army pattern from the late 1960s / early 1970s, occasionally seen on period-correct Cold War kit and distinctive for its blurry, smoke-stained aesthetic. A-TACS LE-X is a proprietary pattern from Digital Concealment Systems designed for law enforcement — a subdued gray-urban pattern intended to read as tactical without reading as military. Total Terrain is Rothco's proprietary multi-environment pattern — similar in concept to Multicam but developed in-house by Rothco. Black Camo is the solid-looking near-black tonal-camo variant favored for low-light and concealed-carry contexts.
Hat style guide: With pattern covered, here's what each hat shape means. A contractor cap is a low-profile six-panel tactical cap in ripstop fabric matched to uniform trousers. An operator cap is a similar low-crown silhouette in cotton rather than ripstop, popularized by US special-operations units in the 2000s. A patrol cap is the standard US Army field cap — a structured, flat-top cap with a short bill. An 8-point utility cap is the US Marine Corps "cover" with eight distinct panels in the crown, the classic garrison and utility hat Marines have worn for decades. A combat cap with flaps is a winter-weight utility cap with fold-down ear flaps for cold-weather field use. A fatigue cap is the old-style Army-issue adjustable utility cap. A watch cap is a knit beanie cut in the short maritime-service silhouette. A head wrap is a long bandana-style fabric tied around the head as a sweatband, sun cover, or dust mask. Each style in our catalog is available in multiple patterns so you can match your aesthetic to your use case. For the broader baseball-cap- specific selection see our Baseball Caps category; for the wide-brim jungle-hat selection see our Boonie Hats category.
